Three Man Army and Obscure 60s/70s Rock

My growing disgust with the majority of today's rock and metal has sent me digging into the past. I have spent the last few weeks panning for gold by reading reviews, hunting for song clips, and listening to full tracks provided by the kind users in the Myspace realm.

This evening, Three Man Army (early 1970s) is dominating the airwaves. Until some albums arrive in the mail, I am dependent upon Myspace to listen to this rockin' obscure band. "Polecat Woman," from the album Two, is my current favorite song by the band. The song channels the great Led Zeppelin, including ripping vocals, and its absence from classic rock radio (at least in my area) is a crime. "Hold On," from the album Mahesha, has an infectious sing-along chorus backed by plenty of rock muscle. "In My Eyes," from the album Two, begins very soft and gentle before a bombastic Who-like entrance and more strong chorus vocals. The final track provided by the Three Man Army Myspace lifeline is "Don't Wanna Go Right Now," from the album 3. The song is more laid back than the previous three sample tracks, but the power is still there underneath the heartfelt lyrics.

Based on the power of these four songs, the obscene neglect of Three Man Army is truly a shame.

My treasure hunts have uncovered many forgotten jewels, and the difficulty in acquiring these gems on CD today further buries them under more years of dust and disrespect.

Here is my latest list of late 1960s/early 1970s findings:

Armageddon
Black Widow
Comus
May Blitz
Nosferatu
November
Popol Vuh
T2
Three Man Army
